Eisbären top Grizzly’s for seventh straight

The Eisbären Berlin kept on rolling. They won against the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg 3-1. It was Berlin´s seventh straight win in a row - having a 8-1-1 winning record in their last 10. “It was a very difficult game today” scorer of the game winning goal Jens Baxmann commented. “Wolfsburg is very difficult to play against. They were better than us during the first. It is hard to play trailing by 1 goal but we found a way to win it somehow. We have a lot of self-confidence right now”.

After a goalless first period, the guest´s opened the scoring midway of the second. Jeffrey Likens carried the puck down deep on the right wing cut inside and smashed it into the slot. Christoph Höhenleitner redirected the shot standing free on the left side of the goal crease. Netminder Petri Vehanen didn´t have any chances to defend the lifter (10:14). A few moments later the home team found a direct answer. André Rankel hustled his way through the defense at the right boards and set it up for Alex Trivellato with a long cross pass through the slot. The Italian left goalie Felix Brückmann any saving chances one timing it into the almost empty net (17:06).

It took a while for the teams to find twine during the third. Berlin´s Antti Miettinen carried it deep on the right side. Goaltender Brückmann blocked his shot from the right boards. The puck bounced back into the slot area. Jens Baxmann picked up the rebound and made it a one goal game with a slap shot into the low glove side from top of the left crease (17:42). Wolfsburg´s Head Coach reacted and pushed his goalie with 01:40 left on the clock. But their effort didn´t convert into some success. Barry Tallackson´s empty netter finalized the 3-1 scoring only 20 seconds later (18:40). “I didn´t even think about it that I played against my father” Wolfsburg´s Björn Krupp stated. “It was my first time actually. Small things decided the game today with a frustrating end for us unfortunately”.
